The name The Moon should be familiar to most if you’re in tune or from the city of Compton. With recently having been a feature on Holland Izz’s “Stay Sunny” album to creating Young MovieMakers of America (a film program for kids), Moon has aided in setting the stage for others but now it’s her turn to shine brightly.
Within her debut release titled “Street Roses” that features Jean Carter, The Moon takes viewers through her beloved city of Compton via two children who seem to be enjoying a sunny day. As time seems to fast forward, she & a love interest are shown as she sings blissfully over a calm melody. She seems to reminisce of the past as she learns & enjoys the present, all while Carter gives us his perspective within his rhymes, adding the perfect touch. It’s a wonderful visual that aids in truly feeling the deeper meaning behind her emotion & lyrics. A voice that I look forward to hearing more of as she prepares us for her “The Roses on Rosecrans” EP. Stream & watch her visual below.
